White pizza story
This recipe has probably been through the most changes since its inception. This Pizza started out being
made on French bread with a dry soup mix as the base of the cheese spread layer. First, the soup
company discontinued the soup mix (fines herbs) – at least I can’t find it in my area. Then, when my
husband had to severely limit his salt intake, I had to find a substitute for the crust component as well.
This recipe would have had about 4 ingredients if the soup mix was available. The fines herbs referred to
in the French herb blend are parsley, chives, tarragon and chervil. I’ve omitted the chives from this
recipe as it features onion as one of the toppings. My husband likes this pizza with no meat toppings,
but feel free to add peperoni, cooked Italian sausage, bacon or ground beef. I’ve just recently found
chorizo sliced like peperoni at the grocery store and want to experiment with the chorizo…I’ll have to do
it when my husband isn’t home to eat the pizza since chorizo is verrrry salty.
The crust I use only suggests baking for 10-12 minutes, making this fairly quick recipe. I often cheat with
the cream cheese and chevre by softening them in the microwave if I’ve forgotten to take them out of
the fridge to sorten. Depending on the toppings you choose, you could be eating pizza in 30 minutes or
less. My pizza delivery takes at least 45 minutes to arrive.
The serving size for this recipe is ½ of the pizza, but remember, to start low and go slow when it comes to
edibles. Have one slice, wait and hour or so and see how elevated you are.
